Well my tri-head Nintendo screwdriver arrived, so of course I jumped straight in and began to dismantle the DS!
I found a great video showing a guy dismantling his DS. I used this as a basic guide (the guy was spanish so I couldnt actually understand a word he was saying).
Dismantling the DS was a piece of cake, but when it came to examining the touch screen that the screen is glued to the main LCD so I was unable to actually do anything with it. Well, I gave the inside a good clean out while Iwas there and put it back together, but the screen was just as bad as before.
So it looks like I’ll be buying a new touchscreen for it after all.

It seems our Nintendo DS has developed a pretty major touchscreen issue.
We noticed that it had become very inacurate so tried to calibrate it. The calibration just looped and looped and after some google searching I discovered that this is a symptom of a faulty screen. I tried the “toothbrush technique” and although I managed to brush out a load of dirt, it didnt fix it.
To that end, I’ve just bought a Nintendo tri-head screwdriver and am going to attempt opening it up and giving it a proper clean. If this fails, Ive managed to source a new screen, which I will buy and attempt to fit.
